The Legacy of Mary
In Luke chapter one, we discover that Mary was not chosen for her status, education, or worldly influence—she was simply a teenage girl from Nazareth, a small, overlooked village of perhaps only four acres. Yet God saw in her a genuine humility that made her the perfect vessel for bringing the Savior into the world. Her song, the Magnificat, declares a legacy that has echoed through two thousand years: all generations call her blessed. Through the legacy of Mary, Pastor Hilton reminds us that greatness is not something we should aspire to, obedience is. When we pursue humble obedience rather than personal glory, God can use us in extraordinary ways. Mary's life challenges us to examine our own hearts—are we genuinely humble, or do we constantly seek recognition? Do we make everything about ourselves, or can we joyfully serve in the background?
